That depends a lot on how far off the floor it fell, and whether it was splashed with water, or if went scuba diving. Seriously though, you can find our labor rates here, so the only question would be the cost of parts. Once your unit is on the bench, we'll be able to determine just that, and contact you via e-mail with all of the costs involved, and how long your unit's stay with us, will be. We do all we can to make the repair process both painless, and reasonable. . My lens doesn't retract, or operate properly. How much to repair it? More than likely the unit has suffered a shock or an impact of some type. Other times, it's possible the lens was forced in, or prevented from coming out. In either case, it may be possible to repair the lens. Other times, the lens has to be replaced. In any event, labor is typically minor
to intermediate. The lens can cost from $50.00 on up. My camera got wet, can you fix it? If your unit did get wet, it's wise to remove the battery, and avoid powering the unit on. For cameras or camcorders damaged by liquid or water, the estimate fee is $50.00, and is applied to the cost of repair. A general rule of thumb is if a unit is
submerged for any length of time, there is little hope. If the lens has
water spots, it's a good indication that at the very least, the lens itself
will need to be replaced. Once the camera is on the bench, we'll be able
to determine if you need to go shopping for a replacement. Do remember
that estimates for cameras with liquid damage are at $50.00. Yeah, but won't it cost a lot to ship my Cybershot to you? Actually, the average cost of shipping a camera to us is $8.00- $10.00. For smaller camera's, the mail is more cost effective, provided you don't get confirmation, and your realistic about what your camera is really worth. After all, it IS broken, and they will make you prove that it's worth what you say it is, in the event something goes wrong... Why don't you offer free estimates? One word, gimmick. Do you really think that repair shops that offer free estimates are going to spend one minute on your digital camera or Cybershot trying to figure out it's problem? No way! They simply 'shoot' you a price, and hope the price they quote you will cover the cost of parts and leave room for plenty of profit. This works for them if its an easy repair, but bad for you if your unit was one of the 'easy' ones, and you were charged too much money for the repair. Simple to understand, yes? How much do you charge for estimates? $30.00. A modest sum, wouldn't you agree? The estimate fee is waived, should you decide to have your unit repaired. That's fair, isn't it? How much do you charge for return shipping? Typical return shipping charges are $10.00, and we only tack on $1.50 for packing supplies. That's reasonable, yes? If you'd prefer to use a different shipping carrier, or if you'd like us to use your account number when shipping, simply let us know... What do I do next?
