How much will it cost to repair my Mavica?   ^ Top

That depends a lot on how far off the floor it fell, whether it was concrete or carpet, and whether it sunk to the bottom of the swamp, or just got splashed.

Seriously though, you can find our labor rates here, so the only question would be the cost of parts. Once your unit is on the bench, we'll be able to determine just that, and contact you with all of the costs involved, before any work is performed, and how long your unit's stay with us will be.

We do all we can to make the repair process painless as possible.

Floppy Disk Mavica's:

If your camera is displaying Disk Error, C:13:01, C:32:01, and you've tried to format a new disk (using your computer, w/ FULL format option) with no success, then your cameras' drive will need to be repaired, rebuilt or replaced.

If the drive can be repaired or rebuilt, you can expect to pay intermediate to major labor, model dependant. If the drive has to be replaced, labor is typically minor and then you have the cost of the floppy drive.

CD Mavica's:

If your camera is displaying Disk Error, C:13:01, or you hear a clicking sound, and have tried a new CD-R disk with no success, then, more than likely, the drive assembly needs to be repaired, rebuilt or replaced.. For repair or rebuild, expect to pay major labor.

Once your camera is on the bench, we'll be able to determine if we can repair or rebuild your camera's drive. New parts aren't available any longer, so it possible that your camera will be unrepairable. We'll let you know if we can help you and provide you with all the costs up front, before any work is performed.

My camera got wet, can you fix it?  ^ Top

For cameras or camcorders damaged by liquid or water, the estimate fee is $50.00, and is applied to the cost of repair.

If your unit got wet, remove the battery and DON'T turn it on!.

The longer your camera or camcorder stays under water, the worse it gets. The one factor you have control over is time - how fast you can get the camera to our repair facility - because it's time that is the real killer. Once water (salt water is worse yet) gets inside, corrosion begins to form quickly. Even if you use a blow dryer, you can't get it all out. If you wait too long, no amount of cleaning or labor will be able to restore it. That's why it needs to get here fast - that give you the best chance to get your unit restored.

Lost Videos & Pictures
It's recommended to download the pictures and videos from your camera as often as possible. However, sometimes it just happens - an accident - and now your precious memories are in jeopardy. The faster that camera gets here, the better the chance that we can either fix your camera, retrieve the files, or both. Our success rate is about 70%. We'll try our very best to get your precious memories back.

Yeah, but wont it cost a lot to ship my Mavica to you?  ^ Top

The average cost of shipping a camcorder to us is about $15.00. Remember, UPS is by far more cost effective than the Postal Service, once you get past three pounds. Adding tracking or additional services will result in higher shipping costs.

$30.00. A modest sum, wouldn't you agree? The estimate fee is applied to the cost of repair. That's fair, isn't it?

Why don't you offer free estimates?  ^ Top

One word, gimmick.  Do you really think that repair shops that offer free estimates are going to spend one minute on your camera trying to figure out it's problem?  No way!  They simply 'shoot' you a price, and hope the price they quote you will cover the cost of parts and leave room for plenty of profit. This works for them if it's an easy repair, but bad for you if your unit was one of the 'easy' ones, and you were charged too much money for the repair. Simple to understand, yes?

How much do you charge for return shipping?  ^ Top

We generally use UPS to do all of our shipping.  Their rates are a little higher than Priority Mail, but the cost of insurance is much less than that of the USPS.  On average, return shipping with insurance costs $13.50.  This includes a buck for the new box, bubble bag, and packing material. For the heavier, more expensive cameras, return shipping costs do increase, depending upon both their weight, and value.

What kind of turn-a-round time do you have?   ^ Top

Average turn-a-round time is 5 - 7 business days. If your unit requires parts that we do not stock, then your unit's stay with us will be lengthened.

We do all we can to make your units stay with us as short as possible, without sacrificing quality or care. If you require a faster turn-a-round time, please let us know and we'll do our very best to accommodate you at no extra charge!
